Delete Files Permanently

Why you can recover deleted files

Accidentally deleted an important file? Don't panic! Deleting a file from your computer, USB drive, or memory stick, does not mean it is lost forever. When you delete a file, Windows does not delete the file content, it just marks the space the file occipied as free so it can be re-used but the content still remains on a drive and there is a good chance to find and recover it using undelete software like Undelete. Undelete can recover files that have been accidentally deleted, including files removed from the Recycle Bin, files deleted with the command prompt or the Shift+Del combination, files deleted from a network drive, and so on.

Important information:
Deleted files can only be restored if the space allocated to the files has not been overwritten by new data. As the deleted file space is marked as re-usable, to maximize your chance of successful recovery, you should protect the subject drive to ensure no new data is written to it. Do not perform file operations or run programs on the drive to be recovered as it may overwrite deleted files.

After the scan is finished, you will see the files that can be recovered. Browse the list of deleted files, to find the files you need to undelete.
Select the files you need to undelete, click the Undelete button and select the folder for saving recovered files. To avoid overwriting deleted information, you should save recovered files to another drive.

How can I recover files deleted from the Recycle Bin?

If you accidentally delete a file you actually need, you can easily recover it - simply open the Recycle Bin by double-clicking on the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, browse the list of deleted files, when you find the file you want to recover, right click on it and select Restore.
But if you deleted a file bypassing the Recycle Bin, e.g. if you deleted files from a removable or network drive, with Shift+Del or from the command prompt, or if you emptied the Recycle Bin and want your files back, you can use Undelete to recover them. As Windows doesn't actually destroy deleted files, it just marks the space they occupy as free, Undelete can scan your hard drive, USB drive or memory stick and find files that have been deleted and then recover them with a single mouse click.

How can I recover photos deleted from an SD card?

If you delete photos from an SD card using the standard 'Delete' option, don't worry - it doesn't delete them forever. In fact, your deleted photos are still recoverable. To recover photos:
Download and install Undelete on your computer
